Exposure time, 2026
Photography is deeply connected to memory. A photograph usually captures something that once existed: a place, a body, an event. In Exposure Time, however, that original moment is absent. The spaces have been constructed using generative AI. Yet we approach them as though they were photographed, applying photographic principles such as light, exposure and motion.
Time therefore takes on a particular significance in this work. Light appears to accumulate within the space, acquiring volume and weight. The space itself remains still, yet carries traces of time within it. The result is an image that exists between the digital and the physical, between memory and construction.
In doing so, the meaning of the title also shifts. Exposure Time refers to the time it takes for something to be perceived as reality.
Exposure Time is a 2026 mixed media work. It combines photography printed on baryta paper with iridescent pigments, among other materials. The piece measures 80 × 60 cm.
